About
Thank you for visiting RationalLiberty.com.
Rational liberty refers to an existence based on universal and individual freedoms within the boundaries of law and order and of diplomatic progress. The intent of this concept is to apply scientific reasoning to natural law, as adopted through the political philosophy of republicanism. When applied correctly, reason will allow us to maximize our ability to foresee consequences and use that to our advantage, rather than remain ignorant of them and fail in our endeavors. The desired end is a society conducive to the development of man’s intellect and understanding and to increase his potential in order to achieve greater personal liberty, independence, prosperity, and individuality.
The concept of rational liberty can be easily utilized in modern society and particularly in politics. However, although we are all capable of reason, it is decreasingly employed by many within the political arena. This presents a problem not only for our collective well-being, but for each one of us as individuals under a system founded on the principles of natural personal liberty. Those who represent the People in our local, state, and federal governments ought to be able to anticipate the results of their policies and actions as our political agents, since those actions directly affect every one of us. A reasonable person has the capacity of foresight. Those who continually demonstrate a lack of it should not be chosen for the responsibility of representing the rest in society.
The main purpose of this website is to scrutinize our political representatives and their policies, decisions, and consequences of their actions. This will include commentary on current events, research into controversial political matters, and historical analysis. The goal is to educate and to achieve a better understanding of what it means to possess and maintain individual liberty and how our government should act in order to preserve and protect it.
The “atmosphere” at Rational Liberty will be serious when discussing serious matters, but otherwise relaxed and good-humored. Respecting others is essential to reasonable debate, but that is not to say we should compromise our beliefs simply for the sake of being agreeable.
